The Coronavirus, Covid-19 and Kaluma Ski.
Covid-19: The New Normal and Kaluma Ski
Since “The Virus”, Covid-19 forced the closure of ski resorts, forced airports to close, airlines to be grounded and borders to be shut, the world has literally ground to a standstill. Along with most of the worlds business and industry, the Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Industries have as good as ground to a halt.
There is a light at the end of the tunnel. There is the very distinct possibility of home-stay holidays and “stay-cations” this summer. Some airlines are flying and border restrictions are being slowly relaxed. A Covid-19 vaccine is in the making. These are all positive signs. The world needs travel. We all need holidays. We all deserve our piece of luxury.
We are in constant discussion on how we can offer our luxury holidays for winter 20/21. Any plans we did have, like most others, have changed. With so much uncertainty in the world right now, it is hard to plan ahead. The goalposts have shifted and rules change constantly.
While we cannot yet comment on insurance companies and their plans, or on airlines and the re-opening of the airways, or on resort operations and social distancing plans for ski resorts – we can still remain optimistic and positive, we have to. We all want it to “be normal”. We don’t want to have to change or miss out on our luxury holidays or on our dreams of skiing soft, fluffy, cold white powder snow on a blue bird day in the Alps.
Health and the new trends…..
So many predictions of what will be the “new normal” by December 2020.
Will private super yachts, luxury private villas and private luxury chalets be the new preferred holiday – because they “are private”. You choose who you holiday and stay with. You can be assured of excellent cleaning and hygiene standards.
Will exclusive private travel be the new norm and more affordable…private jets straight to the Courchevel 1850 airport, chauffer driven cars, or an increase in people driving to their chosen destination.
Will operators have to guarantee “pre tested” staff to make sure all clean and safe. Whatever, the “new normal” is we will as always aim to be ahead of this curve and aim to provide whatever our guests request.
So what do we plan to do differently….
Nothing!
We want to continue in the same vein as before. With the same principles, the same morals and the same ethos. We want everyone to enjoy their holiday. We want all our guests to be able to experience what we have experienced by living in the Alps. We want to share our secrets of what makes our resorts so special. We want to remain personal enough to make sure everyone experiences the best holiday they can ever have in a ski resort. We want you to arrive as guests and leave as friends. We want you to experience “our luxury”.
And how do we aim to do this….
By remaining flexible throughout the whole holiday process. It is important to us that you get the holiday you want. If you want fully catered, half board, B&B, all inclusive drinks, afternoon teas, a ski guide and a full time concierge to look after your group – we can do that.
If you prefer (for safety and security) to bring your own staff, chefs, hosts, nannies and want all our staff removed from the chalet, we can do that.
Or if you want something in between – we can make that happen.
We truly believe it is your holiday and we will personally tailor make your trip to suit your needs. All you have to do is ask.
What might change a little bit after Covid-19….
Our portfolio of chalets may change. We aim to bring you the best chalets, with the best assurances and are working with owners to try and provide you exactly that. To instil confidence with the best terms and conditions for your holiday.
Respecting the social distancing. Your own private chalet is perfect for social distancing from others you do not know. You have the privacy of your own space, your own luxury chalet and your own team (if you want them) of experienced, trained and clean staff.
We will ensure we are adhering to the latest rules and regulations regarding cleaning equipment, detergents and disinfectants. We will, if required, ensure our staff wear face masks and disposable gloves at all times.
If voluntary Covid-19 testing is an option, then we will make sure our chalet teams are tested regularly.
Flight / travel restrictions or social distancing.
Some airlines have already released winter routes and prices, in a bid to restore some faith and confidence in travel. We wouldn’t be surprised if “private” travel was on the increase. Private jets, private flights, transfers, or even the option of private chauffeured vehicles from home to resort.
We urge you to remain positive. We are. We plan to offer you the same luxury in the same resorts and make sure you have the very best time possible.
If you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Wishing you all, the very best of health and happiness through this troubled time.
