Easter Skiing

When does the season end? What is Easter Skiing? What’s the best time of year to ski?

Questions we get a lot.

The season ends when the lifts close. Its as straight forward as that.

At least the commercial season ends then, as all hotels are closed, all attractions are closed and it just leaves the die hard ski tourers searching for the last of the winters snow.

APRIL always gets a snowfall or two. And its usually a big one. Snow sure resorts, higher resorts, glacial resorts usually continue into May. Many others close around the 20th – 27th April. Not because of lack of snow, simply because there is no one around to ski!  Without people paying for lift passes or staying in hotels its just not viable to keep a resort open!

Easter Skiing is just what it says – it is skiing, at Easter. Easter Holidays in the UK vary depending on schools or potentially where you live. So for the UK, skiing is confined to those two weeks at the end of March and early April usually. However, for the rest of the skiing world, Easter holidays are not so long or as ‘important’. Skiers will ski, as long as the snow is good enough! If the snow is good in April, people will still come to ski. Just not as many – which obviously means the slopes wont be as busy, the resort will be quieter, the sun usually a bit warmer and the lunches a bit longer!

Whats the best time of year to ski…..it will be different for everyone.

Christmas is amazing for families and the ‘white Christmas’ feel. January is usually cold and snowy. Feb is usually busy, but unavoidable, as the UK and the whole of Europe is on holiday! March brings the sun and the move to spring, but usually with a lovely snow cover and great on and off piste skiing.

And April, Easter, is the best time to ski! Sun, snow, quieter slopes, excellent conditions to learn in, great conditions for ski touring, fabulous for cruising the pistes and clocking up the kilometres. And the sunshine means relaxing sun terraces, cold Aperols and big bottles of rose, while the kids burn off their energy!

We have some wonderful availability, as Easter is quite early this year, its caught a few people out.

We are delighted to be able to offer some excellent prices (around 30% off) our advertised prices to fill some late availability.
