Just how determined are you to ski this winter? When you’re told it’s difficult to do something, you want to do it even more. We suspect everyone is desperate to travel and to ski at some point this Winter.
Where there’s a will there’s a way.
I checked with my insurance provider and I checked with the local authorities. I got a test which was needed for travel, as did my family. That makes sense to me! So simple, so effective. It allows travel and you feel safe knowing that everyone on the flight has been tested. We checked the travel route and we adhered to all the rules. With that feeling of naughtiness and much like excited first time travellers heading off into the unknown (bare with me here……) we were off, we were on a plane for the first time since, well, I cant actually remember. The flight crew were so pleased to see us and the captain landed the plane like he hadn’t just had 6 months off work. It was really very simple. And here we are, in Dubai, it’s 30 degrees and the kids are very happy indeed.
It is encouraging to experience how easy it was to travel and how the authorities clearly want you to travel by making the process as easy as possible, from start to finish.
It’s also super interesting to see how somewhere like Dubai, the land of luxury and excess is coping with this current climate we find ourselves in. By climate I don’t mean the 30 degree ‘winter heat’, but this bloody pandemic. How huge, luxurious hotels are handling the situation with such confidence . What changes restaurants and bars have made in order to continue to serve you safely and as unobtrusively as possible. How seriously they take the cleanliness and hygiene in the mega malls. In a totally man made luxurious environment , they have been spot on (in my humble opinion) in allowing life to continue and encouraging travel.
And we are now planning on going to Ski Dubai, the worlds largest indoor ski slope.
My point being: if we can currently ski in Dubai (indoors!), it would be a huge travesty if we can’t ski outdoors in the majestic Alps this season!
