Here is our latest ski update. With the announcements just 48 hours ago that quarantine restrictions have been reduced, skiers are preparing for the winter. UK holiday makers will only have to quarantine for 5 days upon returning from their winter holiday in the Alps.
As it is understood, you can either supply a negative test upon entry to the UK and not quarantine at all, or accept the 5 day quarantine, taking a test on the 5th day, with a 24-48hr turn around of results before continuing as normal, with a negative test.
Kaluma are the leading chalet operators in both Courchevel 1850, France and St Anton in Austria. We have therefore focused on those specific areas:
St Anton, Austria
Currently there are no restrictions on entering Austria, aside from a few certain, specific regions. This is also expected to change. Currently, at time of writing, there is no need for a covid test or a quarantine on entering Austria. Austrias lockdown has been timed to co-incide with the ski season, in the expectation that cases will be lowered and confidence will be restored within the ski resorts. Allowing travel from all destinations – meaning there is every chance to enjoy this winter’s ski season in the Austrian Alps.
Courchevel 1850, France
There has been a lot of bad news coming from the French regarding the escalating rates of infection and Covid 19. France is in the midst of a national lockdown with updates coming on the 1st December.
It is rumoured that December could be a tough month for the whole French ski industry, with resorts hoping to open for New Year Skiing. As soon as we have more concrete news we will keep you as up to date as possible.
Kaluma expect there to be a rush for bookings as soon as the winter season get the official green light. We still expect the New Year and 2021 to be good for bookings, especially in the latter part of the season, February – May. So don’t miss out on your perfect chalet or your favourite destination. Get in touch to discuss your Winter ’21 holiday.
Smaller Groups and bigger chalets
With the expectation that group travel will be severely diminished this winter, with companies all but stopping all corporate travel we find ourselves with 3 larger chalets sleeping 20+ guests in St Anton. In recognition of this we have re priced our larger chalets, making them more attractive for groups of 10. If you have a ski group of 10 people, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Perhaps even companies who would want everyone to have their own room, could offer a 10 person trip with sole occupancy rooms.
We would love to help you all ski this winter.
