We ran our first ever women only group ski trip, Women Who Ski in January 2020. We followed this up with two more amazing trips in January and March 2022.
How it all began…
Our inaugural ‘Women Who Ski’ trip was born from a group ski trip Zoë de Pass AKA Dress Like A Mum did back in January 2019 with a few other friends (Natalie AKA Style Me Sunday, Clemmie Telford and Cat AKA Not So Smug Now). Lucy from Kaluma Ski hosted them and they all had an absolute ball. Nat was a complete beginner, Clemmie and Cat hadn’t skied in a while due to kids and other responsibilities that adulthood brings. And whilst maxing out their ski time they of course managed to fit in a lunch and some all-important après! It was over a few Aperols spritz that it was decided this is exactly the sort of trip women need. Life gets busy and too often we forget to take time for ourselves, doing things we love, being active, meeting new women, sharing experiences, having fun.
The plan started to come together…
Zoë has done many ski seasons and has a passion for snowboarding and fun, so we locked heads together to come up with ‘Women Who Ski’ as a brand to represent exactly that.
Together we invited all of our amazing female followers to join in on our first women’s group ski trip to St Anton in January 2020. We told Chemmy Alcott, the English former World Cup ski racer and mum of two gorgeous boys about the trip to see if she would be interested in giving some top ski tips and helping host our girls on the mountain and she jumped at the chance. Next up we had Sarah Lindsay British former short track speed skater and owner of Roar Fitness gyms up for coming to try out skiing for the first time and to share some of her fitness and nutrition tips. These three women are forces to be reckoned with – bags of energy, huge smiles, honest and super fun, each of them.
2022 continued the success of the 2020 trip and followed a similar format – this time we enlisted the help of local ski legend, womens ski pioneer, off piste guide and international ski film star, Geli Hiesel to introduce our women to the delights of off piste skiing.
The trip itself…
Initially we set out to offer 10 spaces on the group ski trip, but such was the amazing response and uptake we moved to a bigger chalet and hosted 20 absolutely amazing ladies in our brand-new luxury Chalet 47. Complete with a spa area, cinema room, bar and luxury ensuite bedrooms this was the perfect home for a few days R&R for our girls.
We wanted to maximise time on the beautifully kept and groomed slopes of St Anton in Austria with the sun shining down on all 3 days the ladies were here (very lucky!), so we were up and on the mountain by 9am each day. We spent full days skiing, each getting quality ski tips from Chemmy, stopping for coffee and chats here and there. Of course enjoying some hearty Austrian lunches, a yoga, stretch and mediation session hosted by Chemmy and après at the infamous Krazy Kangaruh.
2022 saw the demand sky rocket, the word was out. We ran two trips, in January and March and hosted over 50 incredible women on these amazing trips. A similar format, but with our new ‘off piste’ angle.
